SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: HOW TO FEED THE MONSTER
So you want to be part of the Space Monsters legacy? Excellent. We’re always on the prowl for new talent, but we’re not a bottomless pit. Follow these instructions to the letter, or your submission will be jettisoned into the nearest black hole.
SPACE MONSTERS MAGAZINE: THE BIG ONE
Our flagship, perfect-bound, gloriously printed monster of a magazine. Released every December and June.
WHAT WE WANT: Articles, interviews, deep-dives, and retrospectives on classic and obscure horror, sci-fi, punk music, comics, and monster culture. Think Fangoria meets Hit Parader meets Heavy Metal. We want passion, knowledge, and a killer voice.
DEADLINES:
· December Issue: Submissions must be in our inbox by November 1st.
· June Issue: Submissions must be in our inbox by May 1st.
HOW TO SUBMIT: Send a full draft of your article (1,500 – 3,000 words) as a .DOCX, or PDF file to babelfishpress@gmail.com. Include “SM MAG SUBMISSION: [Your Title]” in the subject line.
BLACKJACK BRIGADE: OUR COMIC ANTHOLOGY
An annual collection of the wildest, weirdest, and most wonderful comic art and stories. Released every Spring.
WHAT WE WANT: Completed short comics (1-8 pages), pin-ups, and cover art. Horror, sci-fi, dark fantasy, and grindhouse vibes are our bread and blood. Show us your monsters, your mayhem, and your unique style.
DEADLINE:
· Spring Release: All artwork and final files must be delivered by March 1st.
HOW TO SUBMIT: Send a link to a portfolio or a .PDF of your completed work to babelfishpress@gmail.com. Include “BLACKJACK SUBMISSION” in the subject line.
OBLIVION TRADING POST: LITERARY AGENT SERVICES
For full-length manuscripts that are too weird for this world.
WHAT WE WANT: We specialize in the bizarre: Cosmic Horror, Sci-Fi, New Weird, Dark Fantasy and Bizarro Fiction. If it defies a tidy genre label, we probably want to see it.
DEADLINE: Rolling submissions. No specific deadline.
HOW TO SUBMIT (THE FULL RITUAL):
- THE HOOK: A one-paragraph logline.
- THE BLUEPRINT: A one-page synopsis (including the ending).
- THE RITUAL: The first three chapters OR the first 5,000 words (whichever is shorter).
Send all components in a single .PDF or .DOCX file to babelfishpress@gmail.com. Include “MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION: [Your Title]” in the subject line.
